Beyond complex theory and nationalist narrative, Ta-Nehisi Coates gives us a boots-on-the-ground account of his time in Senegal, the American South, and Palestine / Israel. Coates is an excellent storyteller that tells it like it is, and makes the case for the responsibility we all have to do the same.
The Time That Remains (2009) — written and directed by Palestinian actor and filmmaker, Elia Suleiman.
Tragic, satirical, and cinematically brilliant, Elia Suleiman’s film on Palestinian family life beginning with the 1948 Israeli occupation through the early 2000’s is a must-watch, relevant as ever film in these times.
